A few nights by the sea can be exactly what half-term needs.
This October, Luccombe Hall Hotel in Shanklin is running a family break with a little Halloween woven into the stay, and we’ve put together an option for two adults and two children staying for three nights on the Isle of Wight.
The return car ferry is included, so once you’re packed and on the road, the journey over becomes part of the break.
You’ll stay in a Superior Seafacing Room with a balcony, with breakfast each morning and a three-course dinner each evening included.
On arrival, there’s a spooky cocktail or mocktail, and during the stay you’ll also have tickets to the Shanklin Chine Halloween Spooktacular.
It gives the break a nice balance. A little bit of Halloween for the children, but still plenty of time to enjoy the island at your own pace.
Lunches are left open, so the days are yours to fill. You might spend time around Shanklin, head out and explore more of the Isle of Wight, stop somewhere for lunch or simply make the most of being by the coast.
For the ferry, you can choose to travel from Lymington, Portsmouth or Southampton. Once you’ve decided which port works best, along with your preferred sailing time and car registration, the hotel will arrange the tickets for you.
It’s an easy little half-term escape and one that doesn’t require a flight or a huge amount of planning.
And we like those trips just as much as the bigger ones.
