Around the World, One Course at a Time, with Silversea at Rick Stein

View fro, inside Rick Stein Sandbanks, looking towards Poole Harbour

There are some evenings where the setting does half the work for you.

On Friday 6 November, Agent Nouveau is taking Supper Club to the water’s edge, joining Silversea at Rick Stein, Sandbanks for an evening that feels rather fittingly built around the world.

Through the glass, Poole Harbour will be settling into November darkness, the boats still visible beyond the lights. Inside, the chefs at Rick Stein have created something especially for us: a six-course, around-the-world tasting menu, designed exclusively for our Supper Club.

Six courses. Six little changes of scenery.

Because if we’re going to spend an evening talking about travelling the world, we thought we might as well taste some of it too.

Rick Stein Sandbanks sits right on the edge of Poole Harbour, its glass-walled dining room looking across the water — particularly beautiful as daylight disappears and the harbour lights begin to come on.

And then there’s Silversea……

Exterior and Interior photos of Silversea Crusises ships Silver Nova and Silver Ray, along with Janine Marshall and Marta Wasik of Agent Nouveau.

Silversea has always occupied a rather particular corner of cruising.

The ships are deliberately intimate. Beautiful rather than enormous. The sort of places where service becomes personal very quickly, where every suite comes with butler service, and where dinner, a drink at the bar or an afternoon watching the coastline quietly slip past all feel part of the journey rather than things scheduled around it.

Today the Silversea fleet numbers 12 ships — eight classic vessels and four expedition ships — sailing across all seven continents.

Some are wonderfully small. Silver Shadow and Silver Whisper carry just 392 guests, while Silver Dawn and Silver Moon carry 596.

And then there is Silversea’s newest generation.

Silver Nova and Silver Ray carry 728 guests, but their design is all about openness rather than scale. Their unusual horizontal architecture, huge expanses of glass and suites looking outward towards the sea make the destination feel constantly present. Silver Nova has spacious suites, private glass balconies, an expansive pool deck and Silversea’s Otium Spa, while Silver Ray continues the same Nova-class concept with panoramic interiors and eight restaurants.

A chef from Silversea Cruises introduces food to guests.

Food plays a rather lovely part in it all too.

Silversea’s S.A.L.T. — Sea And Land Taste — programme brings the flavours and food culture of the places you are sailing through onto the ship itself. Silver Dawn, for example, combines eight dining options with S.A.L.T. and the Otium wellness concept.

Which makes a six-course journey around the world at Rick Stein feel like a very good place to begin the conversation.

Meet Chris

Joining us for the evening will be Chris Scripps, Sales Executive – South for Silversea.

Chris has been in the cruise industry for over a decade working for other brands within the Royal Caribbean Group.

Chris is a proper cruise enthusiast too, and he’ll be joining us over dinner to share stories from the ships, talk through some of Silversea’s extraordinary itineraries and answer the questions you don’t always find neatly explained online.

The Mediterranean you think you know.

Japan from the water.

Longer voyages disappearing into South America.

Or expedition ships travelling to the edges of the map.

This isn’t a presentation followed by dinner.

It’s dinner with someone who knows the ships sitting amongst us.

Ask him what he’d choose. Ask about a suite you’ve been looking at. Ask which itinerary he thinks deserves more attention. Or simply come because you’re curious about what ultra-luxury cruising actually feels like when you take away all the cruise clichés.

Then we’ll let the evening take its time.

Good food, beautiful plates arriving from the kitchen, the harbour beyond the windows and conversations wandering from one part of the world to another.

Exactly how a Supper Club should feel.
